Our Story
Born in 1888, our Great-Grandfather Gaetano (Thomas) Zollo was born in San Leucio del Sannio, Italy outside of Benevento in the Campania region. He emigrated in 1910 to New York where he met and married our Great-Grandmother Antonia (Laura) Ciullo also from Benevento. They raised their family in New York where our Grandfather Salvatore and Father Stephen were born.
In 2001, armed with only a few photos from the 1970s, Matthew ventured to Benevento to find his family. As luck would have it, while at a small coffee bar in San Leucio del Sannio, he met a man who introduced him to his family. From a group of photos and some ancestry documents, Matthew met cousins, aunts and uncles from all over the Campania region. On that same trip and on the same day, Matthew also met Biagio and a young Costantino at Olearia Zollo.
Zollo International Imports Today
In 2018, Matthew established Zollo International Imports and together in partnership with Costantino, established Zollo International Imports as the exclusive US distributor of Zollo Olive Oil from Olearia Zollo.
